Museum Lab
Ian Potter Museum of Art, 2014-2015
MUSEUM LAB was an incubator for experimentation in creative programming, for graduate arts students, at the Ian Potter Museum of Art at the University of Melbourne. The project intended to provide students in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences with experience in shaping and delivering programs and other creative content at a museum/gallery.
MUSEUM LAB offered participating students hands-on experience in key areas such as event management, budgeting, audience development and arts management that can be used in a variety of professional roles in the Arts and creative industries. Participating students conceived and coordinated floor talks, film screening and in-conversation events, alongside social media competitions, all designed to target a student audience. The events proved hugely popular with the target demographic and there were often three times as many attendees to a typical Potter program.
The program was funded by a Vice Chancellor’s Engagement Grant.
